Hello, fellow travellers! Welcome to my Urban Wellbeing Blog!
This is my first blog in Irish lands. After a period of recovering from depression, I finally feel well enough to return to something I’ve always loved: creating. And suddenly, here I am, launching SoulSue — a blog about real life, spirituality, culture and, of course, mental wellbeing.
I moved to Ireland a year ago with my husband and son — a true family adventure, full of big challenges, and we’re still in the process of adapting. But one thing I can say for sure: nothing in life happens by chance. Amid this year of ups and downs, I have felt God’s hand guiding our path. This is a divine country, breathtakingly beautiful, that welcomed us with kindness, empathy, and smiles. The endless green and the views here still leave me in awe. We’ve fallen in love with Ireland and plan to stay for many years.
First, let me introduce myself: I’m a mother, a visual artist, graphic designer and tattooist. I’ve been drawing since childhood, but it was as an adult that my art truly found shape — through watercolour and acrylic paintings, digital art (I love creating on Procreate), and writing. (That last one blossomed after motherhood, when I started a parenting blog back in Brazil — Mãe Pop — which is still online and loved by many mums there.)
But motherhood is just one part of my story. I have so many other interests and topics I want to share — and now I’m taking on a big new challenge: writing in English while still learning the language here in Ireland. Well, that’s just a small part of who I am, because, like most people, I am many things. Over time, we’ll get to know each other better.
I’ll do my best to bring a personal touch to this space by using my own images as featured visuals in the articles — illustrations, paintings, little pieces of art I’ve created along the way. Sometimes, not every topic will fit perfectly with my style of art, so forgive me if not every post is accompanied by one of my works. But whenever you see an illustration or painting here, you can be sure: it’s my own work, quietly sharing itself with you. It’s easier to show my art online than in real life — at least here, my cheeks don’t turn quite so red. I hope you enjoy it.
Welcome!
